Speeches

The most central facet of my life is family.  My family has always shown me love and support in everything that I do.  According, I have presented a link to a speech I gave that describes the impact of the relationship my younger brother and I shared as teammates on our high school swimming teams.

This I Believe Manuscript

This speech is one of my more raw, unrefined pieces and I presented this just as I was beginning to learn more specifics and details required to be a successful orator.  However, I chose this speech because personal beliefs and stories are topics that I am most at ease presenting.  I have never found it easy to communicate many of my ideas in a formal speech or formal essay style but the general informality of personal anecdotes fits my gregarious and down-to-earth demeanor.

Though I was very excited about the topic of this speech, my final product was not as polished as it probably could have been.  My speech lacked a definitive thesis which reflects my natural writing style.  I do not like to present forceful or obvious opinions to strangers so I tend to speak in generalities.  However, I also need to work on identifying a definitive direction for my writings so that my audience can easily recognize the overall message of the work rather having to infer or guess my stance.
