Blogs

All of my blog entries come from my football blog, 4th and 99 (the blog's title is named after the impossible offensive scenario of being on your final down while on your own one yard line).  Football is my favorite sport because I love the hard-hitting, physical nature of the game as well as the intricate schemes that both offenses and defenses execute.  My blog focuses on explaining match-ups between teams based on strengths and weaknesses and the caliber of individual athletes based upon their execution of particular techniques and knowledge of the game.  I also often reveal my personal philosophy that the most successful football teams are built around a solid running games that control the game clock and opportunistic defenses that capitalize on turnovers.

Green Bay Packers NFC Title Game Prediction

This entry focused on the strengths and weaknesses of the Green Bay Packers before their NFC Title Game match-up with their hated rivals, the Chicago Bears.  Having grown up in the Midwest, I'm very familiar with both teams and have many close friends who are die-hard fans of either squad.  I think this entry was my best pre-game analysis because I spent much of my fall semester watching Packers's games with my best friend.  After watching so much gameplay footage, I really felt that I had a good grasp of the nature of this Packers team and I felt I was really able to effectively predict the strategy that the Packers would use to approach this game.

2011 NFL Draft Preview: Cornerbacks

2011 NFL Draft Preview: Safeties

These two entries are the final discussions of my 2011 NFL Draft defensive prospect series.  Though I explored every single defensive position, I believe that my previews on cornerbacks and safeties were my most in-depth arguments.  This is mostly based upon my familiarity with the positions so I did not have to rely on other analysts' perspectives as heavily as I did for the defensive linemen and linebacker previews.  Most of my study came from simply watching film and noting details on these defensive backs strengths and weaknesses in man coverage, zone coverage, press coverage, ball skills, play recognition, run support, and other techniques.
